Online mentorship

  • I offer on-going short and long-term mentoring to students from diverse backgrounds and with varied skill sets. I’ve worked with photographers at every stage in their career from passionate beginners and students, through to professionals who have been photographing for many years.

Every program is individually tailored to suit each unique student, with whom I’ll work closely, offering practical guidance, motivation and inspiration.

Each session is 1 hour long, and involves in-depth conversations regarding the student's work, plus practical and technical guidance. For more advanced students the sessions are based around a positive and encouraging critique of their work and ideas. For those just starting out in photography I help with ideas, focus on technical aspects which may be causing difficulty and offer practical support.

During each session, I examine the motivations behind the student’s work, explore their ideas, concepts and concerns, and address any creative blocks or personal insecurities surrounding their photographic practice. I give honest and motivating feedback, suggest ways to work through creative difficulties, give examples of other photographer’s work and provide constructive feedback to push and encourage the student in their practice.

My sessions offer inspiration, motivation, conceptual development and on-going support. The sessions challenge students to produce photographic work of greater depth and stronger visual identity than they may otherwise achieve, and support students to complete projects and find their own photographic voice. I also support and tutor students on camera functions and am also available to do technical based sessions.

Each mentorship will involve meeting online twice per month, for 1 hour per session. Times are flexible and can be worked around individual schedules and time zones.

    Prices:

    3 month mentorship (6 sessions) : £500

    6 month mentorship (12 sessions): £1000

    12 month mentorship (24 sessions): £2000

In-person workshops

  • My in person workshops are. intended to dive deeper into the editing and sequencing process and book making processes. These workshops derive from my experiences as a teacher and a student, and the dawning sense that many photography workshops don’t really live up to the name. My workshops are designed to be highly specific in focus, learner oriented and emphasise as practical an approach as possible. The workshops are a series of relatively low cost, intensive one day workshops for more details and prices please email me at : dthinks@hotmail.com
